Just like Campbell's Hole, this place was a little tricky to find. Until I realized I'd been there before. Duh.
You can get to it by kind of parking under Mopac near Zilker/360 and hiking in or go up 360 and park in a neighborhood off Scottish Woods Trail and whatever it "T"s with and hiking down. You'll figure it out.
I went the Scottish Woods Trail way because in my memory the other way was FAR. Well they are both far. And this way has you go down what the locals call "The Hill of Life" to get to it. They call it "The Hill of Life" because you want to die when you have to walk back up it.
I can't honestly say I had that much fun doing this. It was humid, it started to rain, it was a long way in, a long way out and some douche with a dog (not on a leash, which is against the rules) kept calling her to stay with him; "Bella! Bella. Bela, here. Bella! Bella. Bella, here." Oh my gawd! If your dog goes far enough that you're worried about her - don't let her off the leash! It seriously was about to drive me crazy.
I'd see a little falls and think "That's it!" only to find out it it wasn't. Did that about three times until I made it to the real deal. Between the smokers (pot and otherwise), the neo-hippies, the drunk college kids and the day hikers and bikers, there was quite a little crowd despite the ominous weather. I just stood there for a minute and went, "Well, OK." and left. Don't get me wrong, it's actually cool. I guess I was just disappointed that it was so hard to get to because I wasn't prepared for it. That and I'd seen the ding-dang thing before!
Please don't let my "glowing" review keep you from going; just be ready to walk. That's all. And keep your damn dog on a leash.
