HAVE YOU BEEN HERE?!
It is GORGEOUS! I had no idea this place existed. To me it looks like some Nirvanic oasis. Except for the trashy people. They are not invited to my real Nirvana.
I highly recommend you wear water shoes. I did not and almost had a panic attack that I would not be able to climb out of the water. I was there alone, I would have had to ask a stranger to help me, and what if my swim suit came off or something?! I say that because the water is almost breath-takingly cold and with shrinkage, my suit was all loose! It was that or because I insisted on buying one that was too big because it was so cute.
There's a grotto and a water fall and a rope swing and camping and lots of little springs and hiking and a butterfly garden... you get the idea. It's just gorgeous. It's one of those places you wish you'd discovered before everybody else, but then you'd just be more pissed off when it was crowded. So I guess it's good that it's been around since the Native Americans were settled here and we can just accept that everybody loves it and enjoy it.
Just wear a swim suit that fits.
Trying to remember where I've been or guess where I'm going? Check out the list here!
Are you new? Are you confused? Start here if you need to catch up from the beginning! Just don't be confused by the "Next Post, Previous Posts" buttons at the bottom. Those are eff'ed up.
Wow, it really IS beautiful. It's funny (or not) - but this is where Guero's has had its company picnic every Labor Day since I started there, EXCEPT for my first year... which was also the only year I went to the company picnic... (They charter a bus every year and you have to be at the restaurant at 8 a.m. on your day off, to go party with the folks you work with...)
The year I went to the picnic, it was at some kinda boring generic company picnic site. There was a zipline, and swimming and all, but I'm not really Ms. Outdoorsy Adventurer... (Though I can get into hiking and camping now and again with the right bunch of folks.)
Guero's moved the picnic back to Krause the following year - but I've been sleeping in on Labor Day for the last five years. ;)
SO I have yet to see this place. But these photos may have just convinced me to join the kids this year...

I totally hear you! Being anywhere by 8am, even for fun, is not high on my list. BUT... I do encourage you to go one way or the other! Glad I inspired you!
